A Volunteer's story
Comments from some of our Volunteers
“I find that now I am retired, I want to give something back to my local community. Volunteering for carers services has helped me to achieve this, and I have a lot of fun”
“I had been out of work for a while after my caring role ended and I wanted to do something which expanded my skills and experience so that I had the confidence to go back into paid work”
“I love volunteering for a really worthwhile service which really does do a good job and they look after me and value me as a volunteer”
Lisa's Story
We spoke to one of our cafe volunteers Lisa, who has now returned to full time employment after using volunteering to rebuild her confidence in the hospitality industry! Lisa joined our Carers Link cafe volunteer team after being a carer for 4 years. Upon losing the person she cared for, Lisa sought to rebuild her confidence and skills and fill her time again. For 2 days a week, Lisa supported us in serving and cooking in our community cafe in Accrington. When Lisa successfully secured employment in the hospitality industry again, she said "I've love it here at Carers Link, it is bitter sweet to be leaving!"
Ellisia's story
We spoke to one our shop volunteers Ellisia and asked her all about her volunteering role.
