Physical Condition Support

Community Transport - The Little Green Bus

If you or someone you care for is finding it difficult to use regular public transport, Community Transport could be the answer.

The Little Green Bus, available Hyndburn and Ribble Valley, offers various options to help you and the person you care-for get out and about for weekly shopping trips, day trips etc.

Their Dial-A-Ride service is best suited to regular trips such as your weekly shop. Dial-a-Ride provides a door-to-door, wheelchair accessible, minibus service for people who are unable to use, or do not have any regular bus services. Fares are £0.50 per mile whilst you are in the car. This is not an individual fare, it is a rate set by HMRC for volunteer motoring costs so, if there are two of you travelling, the shared fare is still £0.50 per mile. As a Carer, if you are travelling with your cared for person, you can have a special Carer fare, which is £1 each way on Dial-A-Ride regardless of distance travelled. They currently offer weekly trips into Accrington town centre from around Hyndburn on a Friday for your weekly shopping.

The Community Cars service is provided by volunteer drivers using their own cars. The service is for individuals to attend medical appointments only e.g Hospital’s, Dentist’s, Surgeries etc. As this is a voluntary service, it depends on the availability and willingness of the volunteers
