Our Spring / Summer 2026 activities for adult carers are now open for booking. If you would like to book on any of our activities, events and courses you can click the link next to the description for the activity and complete the online booking form.
Jewellery Making
Monday 18th May

Join us at a jewellery making workshop where you can use your creativity to create jewellery pieces to take away with you. All materials and equipment will be provided, all you'll need is your imagination.
*This activity is exclusively for parent carers of someone under the age of 18 years old.

Haworth Trip
Friday 10th July

Book onto a fun daytrip to the beautiful West Yorkshire village of Haworth, full of cobbled streets, unique independent shops, quaint cafes and history as the home of literary giants, the Bronte sisters.
Minibus collection available from Accrington, Burnley & Colne.

Curling Trip

Has watching Curling at the winter Olympics made you curious about having a go yourself? Join us for a fun morning outing to a dedicated Olympic sized curling venue in Preston to try curling on ice for yourself.

Carers Courses
Carers Link Lancashire run several courses which either allow you to learn key information beneficial to your caring role, or provides you the carer with a much needed break, where you can engage with other carers during our sleep like a bear course, first aid for parents course and much more!

Understanding Dementia Courses
Our one-day Understanding Dementia course will help you to develop the skills and confidence to support you in your caring role for someone with dementia. We will address key topics, including diagnosis, progression of symptoms, services that can help, and changing relationships. During the course you will have the opportunity to talk about your concerns and share your experiences with other carers. If you are attending an in person course we will provide lunch. If you would like to attend an online course please ensure that you have access to a device to join the course, wifi to connect to the session, and a quiet space to avoid distractions.

Cygnet Autism Training Course
Our free Cygnet Autism training programme has been developed by Barnardo's in collaboration with carers. The course is designed to create a supportive environment for carers, and a chance to meet other carers who may be experiencing similar challenges and to provide information that can help you to consider, adapt, and reinforce the way you support your child. If you book onto one of our training sessions we ask that you attend all sessions, and are open to participating in the course activities and remember to keep confidential the information shared by other attendees.

Burnley - weekly Walk & Talk
Walk & Talk with Maj for 1 -2 hours. Nice steady walk suitable for all, runs every Thursday from 1pm.

Pendle Ski
Hyndburn - weekly walk
Approx. 7-8 miles walk with The Ramblers lead, car share available to the locations of the walk and back to Accrington. Runs every Wednesday 9.30am.
No booking required, just turn up to the meeting place: Plantation St, Accrington

External Courses
Grief and Loss Course
The courses are held regularly at Elmfield Hall from 9:30am til 12:30pm.
This 3-week course will help people with issues of grief and give people skills to support others facing issues of grief. While also helping to support people dealing with the loss of relationships, jobs, and finances.
