Support Available

At Carers Link Lancashire we support Young Carers from the age of 6 to 18 years of age. As mentioned, the support we offer is tailored to the individual needs of the Young Carer but also involves a whole family approach.

This support is based on a 'Tier' system: A tier is a level that every young carer is allotted dependent on how much support is needed. For more information about the tiers click here.

How can we help?

Young Carer's activities are so important as they allow them to make friends in similar situations, be young and have fun!

We can also help Young Carers in their education. We can liaise with the young person, family and school to ensure they have a fair chance at a positive future and can fulfil their dreams. Statistics show that within education:

On average, every school year 48 days are missed due a young person's caring role
Research by The University of Nottingham and the BBC suggests around 10% of all pupils are providing high or very high levels of care.
1 in 3 young carers report struggling to balance caring with their education.
Approximately 20% of our registered young carers (2023) are under the age of 9. This could mean their education could be affected from primary school.
