Support Available

At Carers Link Lancashire we support Young Carers from the age of 6 to 18 years of age. As mentioned, the support we offer is tailored to the individual needs of the Young Carer but also involves a whole family approach.

This support is based on a 'Tier' system: A tier is a level that every young carer is allotted dependent on how much support is needed. For more information about the tiers click here.

Young Carers have specific needs

Many Young Carers tell us that they often feel:

  • Stressed and upset

  • Tired

  • In need of a break

  • Isolated from friends and family

  • They have no time for homework and struggle at school

  • They have no time to see their friends

  • Ashamed and embarrassed

What support can we offer?

  • Free and confidential information
  • Someone to talk to
  • Signposting to other services
  • Information and training about illnesses and disabilities
  • Free quarterly magazine

  • Drop in sessions

  • Support in school

Our team work with Young Carers across Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley and their aim is to help you:

  • Make new friends

  • Give you time out from your caring role

  • Provide 1 to 1 support

  • Enjoy fun activities including cinema trips, bowling and eating out

  • Take part in day trips & residentials

  • Learn new skills through training and workshops
