Taking time for yourself
We believe that taking a break as a carer is one of the most important things for you to consider. Take the phone off the hook, go out for a coffee or just read a good book. Alternatively you can let us arrange the break for you!
We offer a range of trips, therapies and regular or one off events which we’d like you to take advantage of. We cover a range of interests and ensure that we vary the days and times of trips to give you the best chance of taking part. We know that many of you work so we cater for 'working carers' too by organising activities in the evening and at weekends.
We place a heavily discounted small charge on the activities we run which can vary from £3.00 to £15.00 and this usually includes transport, tickets or entry costs and where possible, a meal. Please check our quarterly magazine for more details of all of our trips and events, along with booking instructions.
An example of the activities we run are:
Day trips out to local cities, seaside and festivals
Short taster courses
Understanding Dementia awareness sessions
Lunch or dinner at various venues across East Lancashire
Wellbeing classes such as yoga, tai chi, therapeutic colouring
All our short break activities are based on feedback from carers.
Carers Link Lancashire have teamed up with Max Card - a discount initiative which has been designed to make days out more affordable for children with special educational needs aged 0-19 years.
With discounted access to over 1500 venues and attractions across the UK, this scheme is the perfect way to give parent carers and their families a great day out all together. For more details visit the Max Card website by clicking here, then call Carers Link Lancashire to request your card.
Please note that the card can be used for a maximum of two adults and two children. Only one card per household can be issued.
