Carers Groups

Meeting other carers

Carers Link Lancashire runs several groups where carers can meet each other. These groups are the ideal opportunity to make friends, take a break from your caring role for a couple of hours and recharge your batteries.

The Carers Cafe's are held on a regular basis across Eat Lancashire with specific dates shown in our magazine which you can see here. You are welcome to attend and even if it is your first time you are always welcomed with a smile and a brew.

From time to time we run a Carers Grub Club which meets for lunch or dinner in restaurants, cafes or pubs across East Lancashire. Newly registered and existing carers attend and you will always meet a new face every time you go. Details are published in the magazine.

There are a number of external carers groups that we promote including:

Carers Chorus

In 2014 a Carers Chorus was established between two Carers Services in East Lancashire with the aim of bringing together the carers while using song and music to help them take their mind off their caring role and relax.

The group became very popular and has now become an independent group from the Carers Service. It doesn't matter if you sing in secret in the shed, car or shower; the Carers Chorus is for unpaid carers who would like to meet new people, have fun, laugh and sing a variety of songs in harmony.

The group meets every Thursday at Lupin Road Community Centre, Accrington from 1.15pm to 3.30pm

Carers Drumming Circle

The drumming circle provides an activity that increases levels of social contact and participation through the teaching of new skills and techniques aimed at managing and improving overall health and wellbeing .Research has shown that drumming lowers both blood pressure and stress hormones with the active component of drumming helping to reduce stress in a number of ways.

The group meets every 2 weeks at the Clayton-le-Moors Freemason's Hall on Fridays from 12.00pm to 2.00pm and each session costs £4.00.

Creative Carers

The Creative Carers group provides carers and former carers with a place to use their artistic talents. Each month a different theme is organised from felting to mosaics and from basic painting to wreath making. The group is always keen for new members and you can be a complete beginner!

The group meets on the third Tuesday of every month at the Greenfield centre, Haslingden from 10.00am to 1.00pm.
